I then spent additional time and money trying to use both the metro and taxi to return to the Plaza. to take a taxi out to the zoo only to be told that the zoo was at capacity and closed to any additional visitors. However, what the concierge failed to tell me that the Zoo was on a “free” day and had limited capacity and that capacity was normally filled by 9am. The Concierge suggested 3 different ways, bus, metro or taxi. As an example I decided to go to the Bronx Zoo. Some of the Concierge employees were less than helpful. The grand food court locate in the lower floor was gone, and, according to the employees, would not return. All the greatness of the hotel that we had experienced in the past seemed to have past. Driving from South Philly or New Jersey.Make a left onto 5th Avenue to 60th Street. Turn right onto 63rd Street to 5th Avenue. Exit right for Manhattan, pay toll and bear left for FDR Drive South. Take Grand Central Parkway west to Triboro Bridge. Take the LIE to exit for Van Wyck Expressway South to JFK Airport. Go through the tunnel, pay toll and follow onto (495) Long Island Expressway East (LIE). Take left-hand entrance to Queens-Midtown Tunnel. Go right onto 2nd Avenue to 36th Street. Cross 5th Avenue bearing left around traffic circle to light. Take 3rd Avenue to 60th Street and make a left onto 60th Street to 5th Avenue. At first traffic light make a right onto 3rd Avenue. Once through tunnel bear right onto 37th Street. Take Van Wyck Expressway North to Long Island Expressway West to Queens-Midtown Tunnel.
